All commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) that weigh more than 10,000 pounds must undergoannual DOT inspections. A DOT inspection is conducted to ensure that all critical CMVcomponents are safe to use, in good condition, and working properly. Further, all CMVs,including each segment of a combination vehicle, that require a DOT inspection must beperformed at least once every 12 months.
At a minimum, inspections must include all items listed in the Minimum Periodic Inspection Standards, Appendix G to Subchapter B of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Inspection reports must be retained for 14 months from the report date. At Fast Fleet, our inspections assist you in maintaining compliance with applicable DOT regulations. Our certified technicians have extensive experience in the heavy truck repair industry; they know what to look for during your vehicle’s inspection. According to industry surveys, the most common reasons for being cited in a roadside inspection are brakes out of adjustment and other brake problems, tires, lighting, oil leaks, damaged or obstructed windshield, and no proof of review – all violations that are easily avoided through regular, proper inspection.
